🚶‍♀️ Walking Talking GCSE Maths Mock – Higher Tier Take the stress out of the Maths mock and learn how to tackle challenging exam questions with confidence. Our Walking Talking Maths Mock is designed specifically for students working towards GCSE Maths Higher Tier who would benefit from expert guidance, reassurance and practical exam technique. Rather than simply sitting a mock paper in silence, students work through the paper with Karen, a fully qualified secondary maths teacher with 20 years' experience, talking through the questions and developing the skills needed to approach them independently. Students will be guided through a range of Higher Tier GCSE-style questions, including: 🔢 Number – calculations, fractions, percentages, ratio, standard form and surds 📐 Geometry & Measures – angles, area, perimeter, volume, similarity, congruence and trigonometry 📊 Statistics & Probability – interpreting complex data, cumulative frequency, probability trees and Venn diagrams 📈 Algebra – expanding and factorising, simultaneous equations, quadratic equations, functions and graphs 🧮 Ratio & Proportion – direct and inverse proportion, compound measures and growth/decay problems 📏 Measures – units, conversions and real-life mathematical applications 📉 Advanced Topics – circle theorems, vectors, algebraic proof and iterative methods 📝 Problem Solving & Reasoning – tackling multi-step questions and applying mathematical concepts in unfamiliar contexts But it isn't just about getting the answers... The focus is on how to approach a GCSE question. We will look at: ✔️ Breaking complex questions into manageable steps ✔️ Identifying the important information quickly ✔️ Choosing the most efficient method ✔️ Using a calculator effectively and accurately ✔️ Showing working clearly to maximise marks ✔️ Checking whether an answer is sensible ✔️ Recognising common misconceptions and mistakes ✔️ Understanding command words and mathematical language ✔️ Knowing what to do when you don't immediately know the answer ✔️ Building confidence when faced with unfamiliar or challenging questions Students are encouraged to think aloud, ask questions and explain their reasoning, creating a supportive environment where mistakes become part of the learning process rather than something to be worried about.
