Service Description

Give your child the opportunity to challenge themselves and develop the advanced mathematical skills needed to achieve success in Higher GCSE Maths. These small-group sessions are specifically designed for home educated students who are working towards the Higher GCSE qualification and want structured, high-quality tuition to complement their independent studies. Lessons are delivered in small groups of no more than six students, providing the perfect balance of individual support and collaborative learning. Each session is carefully planned to deepen mathematical understanding, develop confidence with more complex concepts and prepare students for the demands of the Higher GCSE examination. Students will cover the full range of Higher GCSE topics in line with the national curriculum and exam board specifications, including advanced algebra, graphs, trigonometry, geometry, ratio and proportion, probability, statistics and problem solving. Lessons focus on developing mathematical reasoning, selecting efficient methods and applying knowledge to increasingly challenging questions. Regular revision and retrieval practice are built into every session to reinforce learning and improve long-term retention. A strong emphasis is placed on exam technique, helping students understand how to approach multi-step problems, communicate mathematical reasoning clearly and maximise marks on exam papers. Past paper questions and exam-style activities are used throughout the course to build confidence and familiarity with GCSE assessments. The small class size creates a positive and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore different methods and challenge themselves. These sessions are ideal for students aiming for the higher grades, those planning to study maths beyond GCSE or learners who enjoy being stretched and challenged. Classes take place on alternate Thursdays from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, starting 10th September, at my tuition room in Shifnal. The cost is £60 per block of four sessions, with payment required before the start of each block. Places are strictly limited to six students to ensure every learner receives personalised support. As a qualified teacher and experienced SEND specialist, I have many years of experience supporting students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. My teaching combines clear explanations, practical strategies and encouragement to help students build confidence.
