Service Description

Give your child the opportunity to develop their maths skills in a supportive, engaging and structured learning environment. These Foundation GCSE Maths groups are specifically designed for home educated students who are working towards a Foundation GCSE qualification and would benefit from regular tuition alongside their independent studies. Lessons are delivered in small groups of no more than six students, allowing each learner to receive individual attention while also benefiting from collaborative learning. Sessions are carefully planned to build confidence, strengthen mathematical understanding and prepare students for success in their GCSE examinations. Each lesson covers key Foundation GCSE topics in line with the national curriculum and exam board specifications, including number, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry, measures, probability and statistics. Students will develop problem-solving skills, improve mathematical reasoning and gain confidence in answering exam-style questions. As well as learning new content, students will regularly revisit previous topics to reinforce understanding and improve long-term retention. Exam technique is embedded throughout the course, helping students understand how to interpret questions, show their working and maximise the marks available. Where appropriate, past paper questions and revision activities will be incorporated to ensure students become familiar with the style and expectations of GCSE examinations. The small class size creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. Sessions are ideal for students who may lack confidence in maths, need additional support or simply benefit from structured weekly tuition. Classes take place on alternate Thursdays from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, starting 10th September, at my tuition room in Shifnal. The cost is £60 per block of four sessions, with payment required before the start of each block. Places are strictly limited to six students to ensure every learner receives the support they need. As a qualified teacher and experienced SEND specialist, I have many years of experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. My aim is to make maths accessible, enjoyable and achievable for every learner, helping them build confidence as well as the skills needed to achieve the best possible GCSE outcome.
