🧠 Dyslexia Screening Tasks (In-Person) These tasks focus on reading, writing, and language-related cognitive skills: 1. Phonological Awareness Identifying and manipulating sounds in words (e.g., rhyming, segmenting syllables) Blending sounds to form words 2. Rapid Naming Quickly naming familiar items (colours, numbers, letters) to assess processing speed 3. Working Memory Recalling sequences of letters, numbers, or instructions Digit span tasks (e.g., repeating numbers forward and backward) 4. Reading Fluency and Accuracy Timed reading of word lists or short passages Identifying misread or skipped words 5. Spelling and Writing Writing dictated words or sentences Observing spelling patterns and handwriting 6. Visual and Auditory Processing Matching letters or words visually Responding to spoken instructions or identifying sounds 🔢 Dyscalculia Screening Tasks (In-Person) These tasks assess number sense, reasoning, and basic maths skills: 1. Number Sense Understanding quantity, magnitude, and number relationships Comparing numbers or estimating values 2. Numerical Reasoning Solving simple word problems Identifying patterns or sequences 3. Symbol Recognition Recognizing and using mathematical symbols (+, −, ×, ÷) 4. Memory for Numbers Recalling number sequences or arithmetic facts Auditory-verbal memory tasks (e.g., repeating spoken numbers) 5. Non-Verbal Reasoning Solving puzzles or visual pattern tasks Spatial awareness and logic-based challenges 6. Basic Calculations Performing simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division Observing strategies used (e.g., finger counting, visual aids) 📝 Important Notes Screeners are not diagnostic: They indicate potential difficulties but do not confirm a condition.
